Jazz singer CONNIE HAINES has died at the age of 87.
The 1940s star died of myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease, on Monday (22. Sep08) in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Haines launched to stardom teaming up with Frank Sinatra as lead vocalists with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra before moving on to forge a solo career.
A top female band singer in her heyday, Haines was a regular at nightclubs in New York's famed Latin Quarter, where she sang rhythmic up-tempo tunes.
Her recordings included gospel, pop, soul and big-band numbers, including hits You Might Have Belonged to Another, Will You Still Be Mine? and Snootie Little .....
