Full Guillaume Canet Biography
Born on April 10th, 1973, Guillaume Canet has a large filmography and he has worked with great directors, passing from one universe to the other. He met Sophie Marceau (the bad girl in James Bond's The World is not Enough) in The Fidelity, directed by Zulawski, but also Leonardo DiCaprio in The Beach, directed by Danny Boyle or Gerard Lanvin in Les Morsures de l'Aube (literally, it means dawn's bites but I have no idea of how you could translate the title) directed by de Caunes.
Guillaume learned to be an actor at the Cours Florent, where most French actors make their classes. He then created his own theatre company with some of his friends, performing for other friends. But soon television got a sight of him and it started it all. Then, he made his first steps in front of a camera for the cinema in a movie called Barracuda, with Jean Rochefort and directed by Philippe Haďm.
Today, he is ready to commit himself into another movie (we'll soon see him on the screen in movies directed by Jolivet and Waterhouse) but his most important achievement at that day is probably the movie he directed himself and which will soon be in french theatres. |

He was born in Boulogne-Billancourt. He married German actress Diane Kruger on September 1, 2001 whom he had met and started dating in 1999. They have since filed for divorce.
He won the César Award for Best Director in 2007 for his film Ne le dis à personne (Tell no one) based upon the novel by Harlan Coben, starring François Cluzet as the leading part. February 25th, 2007
He is mainly known internationally for his performance as Étienne for Danny Boyle's The Beach (2000). Guillaume is also know for his role in the French film Jeux D'Enfants- known in English as "Love me if you Dare" (2003) |
