Full David Bamber Biography
Bamber has been seen in several British television series and mini-series, including Chalk and The Buddha of Suburbia, as well as the BBC's well known and loved 1995 television adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, in which he played Mr Collins. His most international television role to date is the role of Marcus Tullius Cicero in the HBO/BBC2 original television series, Rome.
He is also a well-known theatre actor, who won the 1995 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actor for his role of "Guy" in My Night with Reg, and he reprised the role in the 1996 BBC television adaptation. He is active in the theatre "community" as well, being an Associate Member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
David Bamber's roles as a voice actor include Emperor Constantine in the Doctor Who audio drama, The Council of Nicaea.
He is married to the British actress Julia Swift, daughter of British actor David Swift and they have two sons, Theo Bamber, born in 1991, and Ethan, born in 1998.
He is currently appearing in The Soldier's Fortune at The Young Vic Theatre alongside Ann Marie Duff. |
