Additional Audrey Landers Biography
Audrey Landers, (born July 18, 1956, in Philadelphia), is an American actress and singer, who is probably best known for her role in the television drama series Dallas as Afton Cooper.
Landers debuted with a country and western song that she wrote and performed at the age of twelve, which led to a Nashville recording contract for Epic Records, a performance on the Merv Griffin show, and a yearlong role on the daytime drama, The Secret Storm. During her teen years, she acted on the daytime drama Somerset, and studied music at the Juilliard School in New York, while majoring in psychology at Columbia University. Her feature film debut was in The Tennessee Stallion (1978) with her younger sister, Judy Landers.
After college, she moved to Los Angeles, and landed her role in Dallas, which she held from 1981 to 1984 and a brief return in 1989. Landers starred on Dallas during its highest rated seasons. In the four seasons that Landers appeared frequently, Dallas was the #1 rated show three times (and #2 behind only 60 Minutes the other year). It never held the #1 ranking in a season that Landers did not appear. She is also remembered as "Val" in the film version of A Chorus Line (1985), and has had guest roles on many television series. From 1990-1991, Audrey played the role of "Charlotte Hesser" on the ABC daytime drama series, One Life to Live. Before joining Dallas she guest starred in an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard in 1980, entitled "R.I.P. Henry Flatts", playing Flatts' daughter.
As a singer and composer, she has earned 10 gold singles, 4 gold albums, and 2 platinum albums. She is currently playing in a USA original series Burn Notice as the girlfriend of the characther Sam. Her character is Veronica.
She is the older sister of actress Judy Landers, and has acted with her in several roles, including multiple episodes of The Love Boat. Audrey and Judy Landers were on the cover and in a non-nude pictorial of the January 1983 issue of Playboy.
She married businessman Donald Berkowitz in May 1988. They have 2 children, twins Adam and Daniel Berkowitz , born in 1993.
Audrey, Judy, and their mother Ruth Landers jointly created the award-winning musical children's television series, The Huggabug Club, for PBS from 1995-2000. |
