She is well known for her appearance in Das Parfum, adapted from the best seller of Patrick Süskind and directed by Tom Tykwer, where she plays "The Girl With the Plums", the first victim of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille. She co-starred with Dustin Hoffman, Ben Whishaw, Alan Rickman, Rachel Hurd-Wood and Jessica Schwarz, another German actress.
In 2002 she appeared in Big Girls Don't Cry, a film about two best friends who begin to strike revenge against those who've wronged them.
