Deborah Cox, the self titled debut album, released on September 12, 1995 deubted at 102 on the Billboard 200 and 25 on the Top R&B Albums Charts.
One Wish is the second album by singer-songwriter Deborah Cox, released in 1998. The album was certified platinum on the strength of the attention brought to it by two massive crossover hit singles, "Things Just Ain't The Same" and "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here". The albums' other hit singles include "It's Over Now", "I Never Knew", and "We Can't Be Friends."
The first single from that album, "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here", spent fourteen weeks at #1 on the top R&B 100 charts for the USA, as well as eight consecutive weeks at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Morning After is the third album from Canadian R&B singer Deborah Cox. It was released on November 5, 2002. It peaked at #38 on the Billboard 200 chart, released on J Records.
Shortly after the release, Deborah was dropped from the label because of poor albums sales and not touring as much because of her pregancy. Despite this, the album was decently received by both the Urban and Club/Dance music markets.
It spawned four singles: "Up & Down (In & Out)(featuring Jadakiss)", which peaked at number fifty-eight on the R&B charts. "The Morning After" which peaked at number sixty-eight on the R&B charts. The two club/dance chart #1's, "Mr.Lonely" and "Play Your Part", neither of which peaked anywhere else.
Destination Moon, her fourth studio album, was released on June 19th, 2007. The album debuted at number 175 on the Billboard 200 and number 24 on the Top R&B albums Chart. It also debuted at number 3 on the U.S. Top Jazz Albums Chart.
The album pays tribute to legendary R&B/Jazz singer Dinah Washington, and Cox calls it "a concept album that I've had in mind for years". Many of Washington's songs are reinterpreted on the album including the title track "Destination Moon". Most of the album was recorded live with a 40-piece orchestra and was produced and arranged by Rob Mounsey who has worked with the likes of Aaron Neville, Natalie Cole and Rihanna, to name a few.
Cox's parents are of Afro-Guyanese decent, but she has never met her biological father. She is married to music producer Lascelles Stephens. They have two children, Isaiah (born July 1, 2003) and Sumayah (born June 29, 2006). |
