Full Pauley Perrette Biography
Pauley Perrette (born March 27, 1969) is an American actress, best known for playing Abby Sciuto on NCIS.
Perrette was "born in New Orleans and raised all over" the southern United States. She told Craig Ferguson (on the Late Show) she has lived in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, everywhere.
After years of working in television and film (mostly doing commercials, voice-overs, music videos and short films), and a chance meeting while tending bar in NYC, Perrette embarked on her current role: she plays Abby Sciuto, an eccentric forensic scientist, on the TV series NCIS, a TV series based on the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. She also appeared as a waitress at Cafe Nervosa in Frasier during season 4, and later guest starred in Season One of 24.
In addition to acting, Perrette is also a published poet, writer, photographer, and spoken-word artist, a lover of music of all kinds, and a passionate advocate for civil rights. She was the lead singer in the Los Angeles based all female band Lo-Ball; a song by Lo-Ball can be heard during the movie Legally Blonde. Perrette appeared in the "The Unnamed Feeling" video for heavy metal band Metallica off of their album St. Anger. In 2007 she produced a documentary about US civil rights attorney and author Mark Lane.
In an interview with Craig Ferguson (on the Late Show) she said she has a life long crime obsession. She was an undergrad student in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Science. Started masters in Criminal Science before ending up in the entertainment industry. She has ended up playing a forensic scientist, which is what she was training to be in the first place.
Perrette supports many charity organizations, including animal rescue, the American Red Cross, civil rights and gay rights. She was married for three years to sometimes musician Coyote Shivers. She has been granted four consecutive restraining orders against him since leaving him.
Perrette toured the actual NCIS offices on 2005-09-30, accompanied by an Entertainment Tonight camera crew. During the tour, NCIS Regional Forensic Lab director Dawn Sorenson (Abby's real life counterpart), told Perrette "You make us all look good, so we're grateful".
On February 1, 2007, Perrette removed her personal online blog and website because of "someone who will not leave me alone and obsessively tracks my blog for information on me." Perrette said that she was "being threatened" and her safety was "at risk".
On July 24th, 2007, Perrette worked with America's Most Wanted to present the city of Prattville, Alabama with a check for $10,000, which will be used to supplement the reward offer for information leading to the arrest of Shannon Paulk's killer. Paulk was from Prattville, Alabama, near where Perrette had once lived as a child. Earlier in the week, Perrette also donated $10,000 to Detroit law enforcement officials for a reward in disappearance/murder of Raven Jeffries, a 7-year-old Detroit girl. Perrette's boyfriend is from Detroit. The story originally aired on America's Most Wanted on September 8, 2007 on FOX. |
