Carson Jones Daly (born June 22, 1973 in Santa Monica, California) is an American television personality. He became known for being a VJ on MTV's Total Request Live. He currently hosts Last Call with Carson Daly on NBC.
Daly's father died of cancer when he was six. Daly attended Santa Monica High School and studied theology at Loyola Marymount University where he had received a golf scholarship. He attended university for one year, and received an internship at a Palm Springs, California radio station, as well as a disc jockey slot at a station in San Diego, California.
His mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, is a breast cancer survivor who was honored at Lifetime’s Breast Cancer Heroes Luncheon in 2004. She and Carson have become breast cancer activists. He has been spotted wearing Livestrong bracelets on numerous occasions.
While Daly has always been a fitness fanatic, his recent weight loss has startled many of his fans and has led to speculation that he may suffer from an eating disorder. |

Mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, hosts a local tv talk show, "Valley Views", in Palm Springs. His father, J.D., died of bladder cancer when Carson was 6. His stepfather, Richard Caruso, owns a golf shop.
Plays golf and, in fact, contemplated a pro career. He played against Tiger Woods in the American Junior Golf Association. In 1991 he dropped out of L.A.'s Loyola University to pursue a golf career. In the meantime he latched onto an internship at a radio station, which led to four different DJ gigs and ultimately to MTV at age 24.
Dated Jennifer Love Hewitt from 1997-1999. She broke up with him by telling her publicist, and Daly first heard about it on the radio rather than from Jennifer herself. (source: People magazine)
