Full Tina Cousins Biography
Tina Cousins is a 25-year-old model turned singer. Born in the sleepy seaside town of Essex, England, blonde, hazel-eyed Tina was an extrovert child who grew into not a bad looking teenager. She started modelling in her late teens "mostly at fashion shows," and when she was 20, found herself in a Rolling Stones video. Tina says Mick Jagger was really rude. "He walked past me on the set and elbowed me," she says, "so I pushed him back! Then I ran off and hid in case he wanted to sack me from the video!"
Her modelling career took a radical change at a fashion show where the organizers had booked a singer who never arrived. The woman in charge went backstage in a panic and asked whether any of the models could sing. Cousins was game, and the only one confident enough to step forward. "I can't say I wasn't nervous. There were 1000 people out there!" But she came through and got a rousing reception. Her music career had begun.
Tina began to earn a living as a singer. She wasn't very well known, and then she lucked out. The small record label to which Cousins was signed had sent out tapes to various producers including mogul Pete Waterman. Along with loads of other tapes, Cousins initially ended up in the bin without being listened to. By chance, someone at the studio saw her photograph sticking out of the bin and rescued the tape. On the strength of one play, Cousins won a vocal test at PWL studios and was snapped up. "We needed someone who looked great enough to be a fantastic live act, but it was also crucial that she had a killer voice," says Waterman. "Tina was the only one for the job." That was 1997. Since then, she has worked hard and built up a following with hundreds of live performances across Britain plus loads of TV and radio. Her first super-hit was Mysterious Times, a collaboration with Sash!, and the follow-up single did well also. |

Additional Tina Cousins Biography
Tina Cousins is a singer of electronic music, from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, England, born April 20, 1974. She has placed several singles in the UK top 20, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other artists. She has also achieved great popularity in Australia and had some hits in the United Kingdom. She initially started her career as a model.
She first achieved her big break in the music industry by appearing on German DJ/producer team Sash!'s single "Mysterious Times" in 1998, which boosted her profile.
Following the success of "Mysterious Times", that was a worldwide hit "Killin' Time" was reissued and it made the British top 20, as did follow up Pray which also achieved success in the US. Follow up singles "Forever" and the reissued "Angel" only scraped the top 50, as did debut album "Killing Time". Following these disappointments, Tina turned her attention to Australia where the song, "Forever" achieved Gold sales. "Pray" was an even bigger success in Australia, hitting the top 10, becoming her second Gold single sitting in the ARIA charts for more than 4 months, and becoming the eighth most played song on Australian radio for 1999.
While in Australia on a promo tour, she re-recorded her track "Nothing To Fear" and had it remixed by the Groove Peddlers. This became the third Australian single, and the video was also shot there. and was followed by a remix EP which achieved healthy sales in Australia and New Zealand.
She collaborated again with Sash! on the top 5 hit "Just Around The Hill"(2000), and joined Billie, Cleopatra, B*Witched and Steps on the track "Thank ABBA For The Music", a medley of ABBA hits that they performed as a tribute at the BRIT Awards. The performance was so popular that a single was released which hit the top 10 in the UK, Ireland,Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.
Due to record company issues, Tina did not release anything again until 2005 when she came back with a new single "Wonderful Life", which was released first in Australia. In 2007, "Wonderful Life" was adopted by one of the largest Australian cinema chains, Hoyts, as their primary pre-feature theme song. "Wonderful Life" cemented Tina back on the Australian music charts reaching 15 and spending 4 months in the top 50 and becoming her biggest radio hit to date, being the 5th most added track on radio, However, the follow-up "Come To Me" barely cracked the Top 50 (though the video got airplay on the Australian TV), as did the album "Mastermind". The third single to be taken from the album was "Pretty Young Thing" was released in two CD formats, one of which was limited to 1000 pressings. The third single performed much better than the previous single, "Come To Me", becoming Tina's sixth top 30 hit in Australia and ninth to chart overall. The set included a new track "All You Need Is Love" and highly anticipated remixes of the club hit "Hymn".
Tina spends most of her time between Australia and the UK, performing regularly. A possible sign of her continuing popularity was her guest appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, a British comedy panel show, which was broadcast on the 2nd November 2006. However, it should be noted that she appeared in the game's "Identity Parade", which typically features forgotten stars no longer in the limelight.
During late 2006, Dance format radio station WMPH became the first Stateside radio station to put any of Tina's singles in regular rotation.
She co-wrote and performs vocals on two new songs on the latest album by Dutch group 4 Strings, titled "Main Line". The album has already received great reviews in the USA, where "Curious" became a Top 30 Hot Dance Airplay chart hit and has performed even better on some Rhythmic format radio stations. Tina's tracks on this cd are "Diamonds" and "Curious". "Curious" is the next single for, released in US on Ultra Records It will later be followed by the release in the UK and Australia.
Tina has recently announced on her website that her first solo album Killing Time is to be re-launched but as a remixed project including some new remixes from her other solo album Mastermind. It is also possible that it could possibly contain videos as well. |
