Full Jillian Barbarie Biography
Former Mohawk College Broadcast Journalism student, Jillian (Warry) Barberie, is living out her wildest dream. After growing up in Burlington and beginning her career at the Canadian office of The Weather Network, the forecast for Jillian was for sunny skies and warmer weather. Indeed, she moved to L.A.
Jillian graduated from Assumption High School in 1984. After several jobs, including one as a restaurant hostess, from which she was fired for occasionally using her sharp tongue and quick wit against the customers, Jillian found herself enrolled in Mohawk's Broadcast Journalism course.
Following the two year stint in Miami, calling the weather and logging feature story reports, Jillian moved over to a Fox affiliate in Los Angeles where she currently resides with her husband, former Baltimore Oriole major leaguer Bret Barberie. Proving popular, with her funny weather quips, she was eventually moved into her current role on the morning show Good Day, L.A.
Along the way, Barberie has done reporting jobs at the Academy Awards, had a cameo as a news reporter on Beverly Hills, 90210, had a guest spot on the 1995 season finale of Melrose Place and has a recurring role on Pamela Anderson-Lee's V.I.P. as a nosy reporter knows as "Foxy Leven". She works for KTTV, aka Fox 11. Get it?
For Jillian Barberie, however, the best may be yet to come. She's had bigger dreams of hosting a talk show. For one hour, back in June, she got her first taste as she sat in one of the most coveted chairs in talk show television, the one to the right of Regis Philbin. When Kathie Lee Gifford announced that she would be leaving the popular Regis and Kathie Lee TV show, many names were tossed around as possible replacements, including Joan Lunden and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, of Seinfeld fame. Now, add to that list, Jillian Barberie.
Although it seems unlikely, even to Jillian herself, that she will land the spot next to Regis, the dream of hosting a talk show may be closer than ever to becoming a reality for the Mohawk Alumnus. That hour alongside Regis has opened up many opportunities, and currently, Jillian is in talks with a Fox affiliate about developing her very own daytime talk show. Jillian has also recently been added to this season's lineup alongside Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long on Fox's NFL pre-game show. |
