Full Judy Parfitt Biography
Judy Parfitt (b. November 7 c. 1935, Sheffield, South Yorkshire) is an English theatre, film, and television actress, who began her career on stage in 1954.
In 1987, she played the mother of Clive Durham for Merchant Ivory's Maurice. In 1995, she portrayed Kathy Bates former, domineering employer in Dolores Claiborne, who is dying in present-time, but is seen as a vibrant, glowing woman in flashback sequences. Arguably, she gave the best performance of Lady Catherine de Bourgh on film in Pride and Prejudice.
She has also appeared in American films and TV, most notably as Dr. Elizabeth Corday (Alex Kingston)'s mother on ER. |
