| Garcelle was born in Haiti. Her mother, Maria Claire, was a teacher who moved Garcelle and her six older children to Massachusetts after a divorce from her father, Axel, four years prior. At age 16, the family moved again to Miami. At 17, Garcelle pursued a modeling career in New York. She got a break on Aaron Spelling's tv show, "Models, Inc.". She then joined L.A.'s comedy troupe, The Groundlings. She became engaged to Mike Nilon, an agent. She was formerly married to producer Daniel Saunders for 6-1/2 years with whom she had a son, Oliver (B. 1992). |

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon (born November 26, 1966) is a Haitian actress and former fashion model. She is known for her role as Assistant District Attorney Valerie Heywood in the TV program NYPD Blue and Francesca Monroe on The Jamie Foxx Show.
Beauvais was born Garcelle Beauvais in St. Marc, Haiti, to Maria Claire, a nurse, and Axel Beauvais, a lawyer. Beauvais has six older siblings. After her parents divorced, Beauvais, her mother and siblings moved to Massachusetts. While her mother was attending nursing school, Beauvais went to boarding school. At age 16, the family moved to Miami-Dade area. There she attended both North Miami Beach High School (which is located in North Miami Beach) and Miami Norland High School (which is located in the Norland section of Miami Gardens, Florida.)
At age seventeen, Beauvais went to New York to pursue a career as a fashion model, and was signed with Ford Models. She modeled print ads for Avon, Mary Kay and Clairol. Beauvais also modeled in catalogs for Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. She has appeared in Essence and Ebony magazine and had a nude pictorial in the August 2007 issue of Playboy. She also walked the catwalk for Calvin Klein and Isaac Mizrahi.
Beauvais has been married to Mike Nilon since 2001. She has one son, Oliver (born 1991) from her previous marriage to Daniel Saunders. Twin sons Jax Joseph Nilon was born at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and weighed 4 lbs. 7 oz., and Jaid Thomas Nilon was born at 8:31 p.m. and weighed 4 lbs. 9 oz. |
