While he was an apprentice he was encouraged to go into acting and got a role in a production of "Peter Pan" From there he played on "Coronation Street" and "Pickwick Papers" before landing the role of the Artful Dodger in "Oliver!". "This is an excellent collection of Judi Dench's fine work for BBC Television. It spans her career from the early sixties to the nineties. You will also get some very nice extras to enjoy. This is a 'must' for every fan of this great actress! "

The Masque of the Red Death / The Premature Burial

"I started looking for a copy of The Masque Of The Red Death on DVD well before Halloween this year. When I finally tracked it down, I was pleasantly surprised to find it teamed up with The Premature Burial on the same disc. For the price (no pun intended) of a single movie, I got a double shot of Corman, Court, and Poe (O.K., 3 Poes if you count the Hop-Frog subplot). While Vincent Price isn't in both tales (not from lack of trying on Corman's part), it was a nice bonus to get a second Poe tale starring Ray Milland (that I'd never seen before). All in all, a great Halloween treat from MGM's Midnite Movies series."

A Dance to the Music of Time

"This is perhaps my favorite set of novels. Given that, I was very skeptical as to the dramatization of Powell's 12 book 'cycle.' It is brilliant! HOWEVER: since there are at least 20 personae to keep up with, Disc One is almost entirely squib outlines. Think of these as random memories from Nick Jenkin's youth that are robustly completed in the series' remaining five and a half hours. For an additional bonus, read the books afterward - they are perhaps the best use of the written English vocabulary. Pullulate and palimpsest - what great words!"

The Judi Dench Collection

"Fantastic collection of rare judi dench films. Keep the ghosts, the cherry orchard (1981) and keep an eye on amelie. J. Dench is remarkable, excellent dramatic actress and amazing comedienne, as well. Very interesting also the extras."
