It all started in 1981 when Lars Ulrich tricked James Hetfield into believing he had a band, and wanted James to join. They recorded a song with James singing, as well as playing guitar and bass. The band eventually recorded a full demo going by the name Metallica.

"This box set is amazing. It contains material up to the black album, in 3 cds and two dvds. How do you do that? i love it. Metallica is so much better live. Also, the origional book is on dvd 2, and you can make a screen saver with it if you have a dvd-rom server in your computer. I also really like the 'scary guy' stencil that comes with the box seti** pretty big too. This also comes with a amazing textured metallica sticker which says: i was on stage with metallica 91-92 in the snake pit as a special guest of: metallica this is also green and white, with a big picture of the 'don't tread on me' snake from the black album."
