"No doubt the best, most authentic, most realistic, most convincing western film I have ever seen in my 62 years of life. Going back that far, thats a lot of westerns under my belt. I don't know where the Texas scenes were filmed, but being born and raised among the mesquite and cactus of South Texas, I can tell you that***eemed they filmed the scenes on my grandfather's land. Great performances by everybody involved, especially Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones. Ricky Schroder was awesome in his character, as usual. So, if you want to be entertained by a group of professionals doing their job well on a great script, you must get this film, I highly recommend it."

"I have the original four-tape, 172 minute version of this five-star miniseries. It's 132 minutes longer than the version which is currently available from Hallmark. I love the work that Hallmark has done on it's other films, but they really did 'Lonesome Dove' a disservice. If you locate the version on Cabin Fever Video, grab it."

"Robert Altman turns Garrison Keillor's long-running radio show into a truly unique experience. In less capable hands, this celluloid translation could have been disastrous. However, Altman is the perfect filmmaker to capture Keillor's musical and storytelling charm. An impressive cast (Woody Harrelson, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan, John C. Reilly, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin) complements Keillor's radio ensemble with their comedic and vocal talents. Though a bit pretentious at times (Virginia Madsen's 'Dangerous Woman' gradually wears out her welcome), Altman and Keillor maintain a comfortable tone of lighthearted nostalgia. Not for all tastes, but a must for any 'Prairie Home Companion' listener. "
