Mariah Carey used to work in a hair salon and was fired from many waitressing jobs before making her debut in June of 1990 with the single "Vision of Love". It hit number one on the charts in April 1991.
Mariah is renowned for her eight octave vocal range - two octaves higher than a normal soprano. She is also the only female artist to have 15 #1 songs on the US Hot 100 Chart. As of 2000, her albums had sold more than 125 million copies worldwide.... |
