"Cybilll Shepherd shines in this adaption of Henry James's story, 'Daisy Miller.' She gives an authentic performance as an American girl who is not wise to the ways of gentile society. You feel for her as she continues to make mistakes in this group of 'aristocrats.' Bogdanovich caputres the period remarkably well, and the cinematography is breathtaking. The Late Barry Brown, Cloris LEachman, Eileen Brennan and Mildred Natwick are on hand in supporting performances. This is an underrated gem that is ripe for discovery."

"Jewish boy marries within his faith and within days desires to be within the bikini bottom of a blonde Minnesota princess. A remarkable 70s survey of stupidity, the sunburned Florida dream, and WASP conversational wastelands. The performances, sets and costumes are worth the price of admission. And the 'pecan pie' scene in which Lenny (Grodin) dumps his dumpy new wife (Berlin) in front of the wait staff and patrons of a cheesy seafood restaurant: priceless."

"This is my favorite Robert Downey film. It's a completely sappy 80's movie, but that just gives it more charm.Robert Downey plays a recent college grad (Louie) who is the reincarnated soul of Cybil Shephard's husband. When he meets her daughter, they hit it off. Louie begins remembering things from his former life, frightening the (still mourning over her husband) living daylights out of Corinne. Louie must prove to Corrine that he's not making everything up, or he'll lose her forever.Excellent acting by the entire cast--Downey really shines. Any of you who stay in Monday nights because you don't want to miss Downey playing Larry Paul on Ally will love this movie!"

"Alice starts harmlessly enough as we meet her, a dissatisfied NY housewife married to a wealthy banker. The fun starts when she goes to a Chinese doctor (played by a brilliant actor, whose name I cannot remember) and he gives her various remedies to her problems. This kind of plot could easily fall into caricature and cliche but miraculously doesn't. The cast play their parts subtly and honestly, and support the movie's delicate frame. Mia is enchanting as Alice (and I don't usually feel this way about her). This quiet film is one that stays with me. Each time I see it, I enjoy it more."
