From the beginning (or before the beginning, really), there have always been two sides to Mariel Hemingway's life. Four months before she was born, her grandfather Ernest killed himself in his cabin upriver — it was the fourth suicide in his immediate family — and just a few years later, Mariel encountered the first but perhaps underlying mixed message offered to her by the adult world: her grade school in Ketchum was named after the grandfather who had taken his life with a shotgun.
I don't take myself terribly seriously. It's why I can be incredibly honest about my life. My problems aren't so different from anybody else. I believe that everybody comes from pain and a certain amount of dysfunction.

"I love this movie, but i hate, hate, hate this dvd. it is the worst transfer i have ever seen on a dvd. it is full screen, but the pan and scan is terrible. you lose about 50 percent of the image from the vhs version. there are scenes where you can't even see the people talking in the scene because they are on the extreme right and left. you are left looking at a mostly empty room. do yourself a favor and don't buy this dvd. if they ever release it on a widescreen, i'll buy it...but until then don't make the same mistake i did."
"I really enjoyed this adaptation of Rosamund Pilcher's novel, September.
It was very true to the book, which is unusual these days.
The cast consists of some of Britain's tried and true actors, a factor that made it all the more enjoyable. "
"Peter O'Toole is one of my favorite actors & this is (I think) his best movie. In my mind, it is the greatest movie that nobody has ever heard of. It is a tale about a doctor (O'Toole) who wants to clone his dead wife. However, the movie is about a lot more than that. He and his graduate assistant learn about love, friendship and the 'big picture.' It is kind of a cross between a drama and a comedy. Quite a deep movie that will make you laugh and leave you in tears as the final credits roll up the screen. Anyone who likes either Peter O'Toole or great intellectual movies (or both) will love this one. A fine flick!"
