"Any B&W fan will appreciate this film. I LOVED Robert Williams--I thought he was refreshingly original and had great chemistry with both of his female co-stars, two stunningly beautiful and very different women. The scene with the the song about the garters is priceless, and one of the s**iest scenes ever filmed(and there are many other breathtakingly s**y scenes as well). Although it should have been called 'Cinderella Man', in captures it's time period in every way. I would have loved to see Robert Williams in other roles after this one, but he died very shortly after filming. You'll also love the scene where Stew follows Ann into the library! Don't miss this cool and s**y film. "

"These films stand on their own as great films and great examples of DeMille's unique brand of film making. They don't need 'extra features' to hype them. I was also glad to see the inclusion of 'Four Frightened People' which is quite different from DeMille's usual epic style. The packaging of the set is actually quite good, with single-sided disks and an attractive slip case. The film quality is**cellent, considering the fact that these films are over 70 years old. Overall, an outstanding collection at a relatively reasonable price. "

We do not get a criterion treatment like king of kings. As much as i relish the pure kitsch and stunning visuals of these special films, i am unwilling to succumb to universal's manipulation and pay these prices."

"Lon Chaney clearly thrived at the MGM studios and this DVD is a fine selection of 3 of his films. The Ace of Hearts was one of his four films made for Goldwyn Pictures (sadly, only this and The Penalty have survived). Laugh Clown Laugh and The Unknown are two of his finest films at Metro-Goldwyn Mayer. Both feature outstanding performances by Chaney.This is the first set of Chaney silents released by Warner Home Video. Not mentioned, it also features the TV reconstruction of London After Midnight. If you're a silent film fan or just someone who loves movies, this set is a must-have.Extras include a documentary on Lon Chaney by Kevin Brownlow and commentaries for the 3 main films by Chaney historian Michael F. Blake."
