Hellfighters

"Loosely based on the life and career of Red Adair, I find this movie a joy to watch not only because I am a big fan of John Wayne, but also because of the fascinating job of being an oil well firefighter. Yeah, there is some soap to it with the love stories between Wayne and Vera Miles as well as Katherine Ross and Jim Hutton, buti** not ridiculous or over the top, and I think the stories portrait how such a dangerous profession can have an effect on the families of the men who do it. The friendship between Wayne and Hutton's characters come through, and the play between them will keep you chuckling, especially when their relationship as friends grows to Father-in-law/Son-in-law."

"This HD-DVD version of The Searchers is stunning. Film quality. This transfer is so good that I am watching the movie over again beautiful frame by beautiful frame. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. John Wayne: Screen Legend Collection

"For those wondering, I can confirm that Hellfighters, War Wagon, and Rooster Cogburn are all presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. That makes this collection a nice improvement over the previous non-anamorphic standalone versions of those DVDs. The other features (Reap the Wild Wind and The Spoilers) are in full-frame (1.33:1) format, which I believe was their original theatrical format. The five films come on three disks: 1. Reap the Wild Wind 2. The Spoilers and The War Wagon (both on side A) 3. Hellfighters (side A) and Rooster Cogburn (side B) The only extras are trailers (except for Hellfighters) and some John Wayne trivia on the inside of the packaging."

"This would have to be one of the alltime most exciting moviesJohn Wayne ever did.In this movie Wayne plays the role of a character who is based on the life of Red Adair a legendary oil well fire fighter from Texas. Excellent supporting roles are also played by Jim Hutton,Katherine Ross and Vera Miles.In thismovie you are treated to some extrodinary oil well fires.Wayneand Hutton fight these monster oil well fires all over the world.The special effects that are employed to put these fires on the silver screen are extrodinary.Wayne plays the role of Red Adairvery effectively. This is a very good movie that you will enjoy.Buy it and watch it."
