The Last Emperor - Director's Cut

"This is not a commentary on the film, just the DVD transfer. I've watched about 100 movies on DVD, and this transfer is by far the worsti** an absolute travesty -- I couldn't even watch it, just skipped around to confirm how bad the quality really is. If you love the movie, buy the videocassette. The DVD version will simply annoy you."

"Okay, so I'm a James Clavell fan and a fan of Bryan Brown since his 'Alice Springs' days, and granted this remake is far better a screen adaption than the typhoon with Patrick McGoohan of some years back. Production quality and finer drawn characters of Struan, and his 'Supreme Lady,' MaiMai, and Brock do flesh out the film on the origins of Hong Kong, yeti**till lacks the complexity that even the most minor characters, the intrique and convoluted plot of perhaps Clavell's best novel, the first in his series of Noble House. Try again, folks. This novel deserves the full treatment of 'Shogun' and 'King Rat'. (Nice to see Kyra Sedgwick, even if she has too few lines.)"

What's Cooking?

"What's Cooking is a film that the whole family can enjoy. Well written, acted and directed the film tells the story of four family's of different ethnic backgrounds getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Featuring an all star cast featuring Joan Chen, Julianna Margulies, Mercedes Ruehl, Kyra Sedgwick, Alfre Woodard and A. Martinez to name a few. Written & Directed by Gurinder Chadha and produced by Jeffrey Taylor, Ethan Hurt and Steven D. Kravitz for Because Entertainment the film skillfully weaves together a story that is both interesting and entertaining. I would highly recommend this film to anybody that enjoys the cinema but is put off by the vulgarity in so many of today's films."

"The world and originally very cynical atmosphere in the comic is not very well adapted to this movie. To be honest the whole film entirelly crap from the beginning all the way to the ending titles, but don`t you just love the robot -design by Chris Halls(or Cunningham). Considering that it was made 10 years ago it`s in every way far more exiting to watch than forexample any of those animated crappy bluescreenmuppets in the new episodes(1-3) of star wars. "

"If you ever thought it might be funny to see Christopher Walken have sex with another man, this movie delivers. This movie has no idea what it wanted to be, and it is better for its lack of vision, direction, or meaning. It is a tour de force of absurdist, accidental da da."

Twin Peaks - Pilot Episode

"I wouldn't even spend that much on the copies floating around right now because they all seem to be real bad copies with awful sound quality. Definately do not buy them from 'fullhousedvd' who has been on auction sites. If you have the video tape stick with that until you're sure you have a reliable source. best of luck. "
