Stand By Me

"Only 1 Star Because there is Nothing Deluxe about this Edition. The Disc is the Exact Same as the Previous Version. Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), French (Dolby Digital 5.1), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.1), Portuguese (Dolby Digital 2.1) This is Not True. This Stand By Me(Deluxe Edition) is the Exact Same as the Stand By Me(Special Edition). The only difference is a 32 Page Booklet and a 18 Minute CD Soundtrack. It is recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. Are you kidding me? Why are these People so Money Hungry and Greedy? I wish someone could answer that question............ "

"Pardon the pun, but I am tired of the bait and switch moves by film distributors when it comes to DVD releases. You buy the 25th anniversary disc and low and behold, they release a 30 year version, with nary a tempting extra. Those reviews that give this a 5 star or close to it, you're su**ers, all of ya! This release hardly has anything the 25 year version didn't. Maybe a longer featurette. And then there will be the 35 year version, with one extra deleted scene, I bet ya. Anyway, save your money, buy the 25 year unless you can't find it. And by the way, I give the movie itself 5 stars for sure! "

James and the Giant Peach

"It is a charming movie, but I thought it was for kids and let my 5 year old watch it. Not a great idea. The movie begins with James living a wonderful life with terrific parents. His parents are then eaten by a fierce rhinocerous who appears out of storm clouds. Then he has to go and live with his cruel aunts who beat him (at one point they actually threaten him with an ax)and chase him across the world. The 'happy' ending is that James gets to live the rest of his life with a bunch of giant insects, including a spider for a mother. If you are looking for a movie for young kids, skip this one."

"James and the Giant Peach in this production using entirely computer animation is exactly how I picture the classic children's book. The voices of Jane Leeves, Peter Dreyfuss, Paul Terry are among the cast of talented voices that make this bizarre, but lovable book come to life. Recommended with this movie: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lemony Snicket, A Wrinkle in Time, and the Nightmare Before Christmas."

Mr. Holland's Opus

"Yeah, it's a little overblown and melodramatic, buti** also genuine, beautifully acted, and inspiring. Dreyfus is a music teacher at a local high school. He fancies himself a composer, and he is, but circumstances and fate keep him from devoting himself full time to that pursuit: his wife's unexpected pregnancy and the fact that the child born of that pregnancy is deaf. The end is predictably a rousing and emotional tearjerker - but still, it works just fine."
