"Where did John Singleton go to college? Is this how he saw it? A school filled with every stereotype, a school where the cops beat up an innocent black guy while letting an armed white guy escape after shooting up the campus? This movie is horribly bad. It isn't grounded in reality at all. Are there race problems in America? Absolutely. Does this movie contribute to the debate in a constructive way? Absolutely not. Don't waste your money or your time on this one."
"Higher Learning is a thinly veiled attempt to inject the audience with Singleton's opinions and values. From the first frame to the last, it feels more like a preachy ABC Afternoon Special than a feature film. Despite the slick veneer of a fine cast, Singleton once again reveals himself to be the main attraction, an angry director trying to promote his bitter social agenda. Without a doubt, HL pales in comparison to his first movie, 'Boyz n the Hood'."
"The movis is basically about 3 friends that grew up in the wood..inglewood that is. It takes a sort of comical look at how they became friends and how they got to where they are today. As the movie takes you back in the day you will find yourself reminising on the things you were doing at the time and truely how messed up we all looked back then. But i have to say they picked 3 fine azz brotha to play the 3 friends. Great movie"
"This movie was an absolute joy; one of the best black films I have seen in a long time. It definitely took me back to the days when all those great R&B songs were out and to my first crush and first boyfriend, etc. This movie just put together a whole bunch of good looking black people into a story that's not about violence or any kind of negativity, just pure fun; it's what life is all about for those of us who appreciate but can't fully relate to life in the hood. It was so much fun. I loved every minute of it. The story was great; the acting was convincing, the plot was realistic and it's a movie I will always think about with a huge grin on my face. Two thumbs way up in my book!"
"While this isn't the instant classic that the first major league movie was, i actually like the sequel as well as the original.the only thing really missing from the first film is wesley snipes as center fielder willie mays hayes, but omar epps does a nice job in his place.so what if you know that they're going to pull if off from the outseti** all about the journey right?bob uecker makes the film!"
