"As is too often the case, some schmuck at a company that puts out the region1 disc of a great hong kong film decided that it would be a good idea to re-edit it for american consumption. this is 19 minutes shorter than the hong kong release. if you want to see the actual movie, and not some nimrod's butchered interpretation of it, get the import disc."
"Shanghai Knights is an interesting movie. Of course it could have been better....but come on, it could have been worse. I personally thought it was a great movie! It had humor, sword fights, fist fights, and great actors. Now, this movie made me a HUGE fan of Aidan Gillen-he's great as Lord Rathbone. Of course Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are spectacular too- as are the secondary characters. See this movie. It's a great movie!!(((the DVD extras are amazing: deleted scenes, audio commentary from the director and screen writers, a music video entitled 'action overload' featuring all the fight scenes, and a 'fight manual' with Jackie Chan and the director(David Dobkin)...all in all...the DVD is a great buy)))"
"Blade 2 was diffenetly a movie that shot down the theory that sequels are worse then the first movie. Again Snipes went above and beyond during the fight scenes in this movie. It was interesting to see how the directors were able to establish moves from the wwf(or now, the wwe, and bring those moves into blade. I thought the bad guys in this movie were the best, and my hat comes off to the make-up artists. All in all, Blade 2 was a great movie, with awesome action scenes, tight bad guys, and a good plot."
"One of the more intellectual films out there that tries to make you think about peace, war, and consequences. Base on a chinese folktale, this is a thoughtful story filled with plot, character, imagery, and action. Not overly dramatic like most kung fu movie genre, but smart. Zhang's use of colors is artistic, and the kung fu movements are acrobatic. Why this did not get a 5 is because the ending leaves you unsatisfied - i.e. Hero should have been less tragic."
"The Iron Monkey is evidence why the martial arts choreography in The Matrix thrilled the American audience. Director Yuen Woo-Ping delivers an impressive punch with this 1993 film which features an easy-to-follow storyline, good acting, stylish cinematography, and amazing fight scenes. Highlighted in this film is actor Yu Rong-Guang whose acrobatic and hand-to-hand combat skills are at their best. The inclusion of the legendary character Wong Fei-Hung (depicted in this movie as a child) makes this movie appealing to the younger viewers as well. All in all, the Iron Monkey is a great film and, perhaps, deserves a big screen showing here in the U.S. Until that happens, whether you buy or rent this film, watching it would definitely be time well spent."
