"This film is a follow-up to the Goddard-Hope comedy thriller 'The Cat and the Canary' which they made in 1939. 'The Ghost Breakers' was an even more successful venture for the popular comedy duo, they are quite ahead of their time in their sparkling performances. (The story had previously been filmed twice as silents in 1914 and 1922). Though really a comedy, this film has it's fair share of effecitively spooky horror scenes and it's directed with an atmospheric style by George Marshall. The haunted Cuban mansion is filled with creepy organ music and there is a room full of caskets! The balance between laughs and chills is expertly handled, making the film a pleasure to watch. Recommended."
"Love my Season 2 DVD!!!!! Catherine Bell, Patrick Laborteaux, and Karri Turner all did audio commentary and they were hysterical!! I am sooo loving my Season 2 set that I can not wait for Season 3!!!! The camaderie b/w the characters is so sweet to watch-- their investigations and court cases are the best!!! Not to mention the chemistry b/w DJE and CB-- WOW!!!! It just gets better :) BUY SEASON 3!!! GO JAG!!!!!!!!! "
"Sam Elliot is without a doubt the best modern western actor today. As with all his movies, he gives a stunning performance. While filled with a few historical flaws, it shows the general theme of Bill Tilghmans life. I admit that it would have been more interesting if they showed his earlier life and involvment with the likes of the Doolin gang. Some may say that is lacks a good plot, but the movie is a true story."
"If you want a great movie this is your dvd. If you want a trailer, a commentary, behind the scenes documentary, making of... basically anything that you are used to getting on a dvd it's not. This is bare bones dvd. At least Buena Vista (Disney) prices their movies approriately when they give you a bare bones release. Spaced Invaders was under $10. Paramount charges premium Special Edition prices for nothing but the movie. For shame."
"This is a beautifully realized film of Dylan Thomas's prose poem, 'A Child's Christmas in Wales.' The poem, wonderfully narrated by Welsh actor Denholm Elliott, is set within a framing story of a grandfather (Elliott) telling his young grandson about his own childhood Christmasses. The casting is marvelous and the cinematography is good, but it is Dylan Thomas's words and Elliott's narration of them that lifts this film into the ranks of Christmas classics. I saw it first on PBS, and was delighted to see it come out on video. Watching it each year has become a family tradition."
"I gave this program 4 stars because it's one of the most enjoyable, suspenseful, strong plot series I have ever seen. I like it even better than Twilight Zone. The reason it lost a point is because of the poor video quality. It is grainy, it shakes and locks up briefly sometimes and simply does not do justice to the creative and exciting story telling. I recommend this set anyway. Look past the poor video quality and enjoy it. If you like the Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, and Hitchco**, you are sure to love this!"
