"If you can sit thru some of the most disturbing scenes ever filmed, you will be rewarded by some of the funniest. A must-see for John Waters fans, although after seeing this movie umpteen times, I still fast-forward past the chicken sex scene and the mom-fellates-son scene - they are still too horrible for me to watch! The highlights include Edith Massey, who spends the entire movie in a playpen wearing dirty underwear and obsessing about eggs; Divine's unique way of keeping her dinner steak warm; and the pepperoni-enhanced flasher. If you're the easily-offended type, don't ever watch it. If you like sick humor and are a Waters fan, you must have this in your collection."
"This was one of the best series to come out of North America in recent years. Engaging and intelligent, witty and at times surreal, this comic drama will have you wishing for an enocre every time."
"I've only seen this movie once on TV back when it first aired like 10 years ago. It was an intriguing drama that drew me in until the credits. It is very well done and the acting is top notch. It was refreshing to see Fred Savage and Candice Cameron in dramatic roles. After watching it I wanted to see it again. When I found out it was coming out on DVD I was really excited. If you haven't seen it I recommend you do if you like dramas. Don't let the made for TV fact scare you. It could have easily been in the theatre in the 80's even though it is not an 80's movies. I'm just saying it is top notch quality. If you can get your hands on a copy of this you won't be disappointed. "
"Not every movie is made to be great art. Some films are made to be escapes from the world for a little while. This is one of those pictures.
I watched this movie (unrated DVD edition) with moderate expectations and was blown away by the charcaters and the story flow. I really enjoyed it (though I have only watched it once so far) and plan to enjoy it again.
Note that there is a lot of nudity in this picture so it is not family friendly but if you can see it and enjoy silly movies then this one is for you."
"Even though it's only early March this may very well be the best flick of 2004(along with the upcoming Family Guy movie). It's a great combination of American Pie, Road Trip, Old School, and Porky's, full of great one-liners and scenes that you & your friends will laugh about for months! Forget about that 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' crap- THIS is the ultimate movie to slap something like that in the face with!"
"I can't count the number of great works of art heedlessly junked by the studios with terrible transfers. I don't care about special features. I care about respect for the films, and respect for the buying public. This transfer is a disgrace. Other Warners transfers -- Cabaret, All The President's Men, Deliverance, don't get me started on more -- follow suit with ruinous presentations. Stop buying these titles. Force the studios to respect the fact that none of us have money pouring from our pockets; that we've had enough; that we buyers are the market for these life-lifting works of art; that we demand proper due given these treasures. The studios work for us, not the other way around."
