Never Say Never Again

"Sean Connery justifies the existence of 'Never Say Never Again' (1983) with his admirably detailed performance as the older and wiser James Bond. A loose remake of 'Thunderball,' Connery's farewell appearance is superior to the ludicrous Roger Moore efforts. Thanks to Irvin Kershner's on-target direction, the film has a stylishness long absent from the official 007 series. Another strength lies in the classic villainy of Klaus Maria Brandauer and Barbara Carrera. 'Never Say Never Again' certainly has its flaws -- a forgettable score, disappointing climax, and Rowan Atkinson's dreadful comic relief. Despite the occasional lapses, it's a refreshing change of pace from the usual 007 formula."

Embryo/Where Have All the People Gone

"Where Have All The People Gone is one of those great 70's made for tv films. Embryo makes a nice companion piece to this 'end of the world' cheesy masterpiece. This dvd is on sale at dollar shops. Buyers Beware. NO reason for selling this at 3.93 plus."

Air Panic

"B-movies of our time are not all that different from those wonderful b-movies of the 50s and 60s. take one hunky hero (rod rowlands, a marvelous actor---check out soulkeeper); a beautiful airline attendant t3's kristina lokken); a nasty nasty villain; a planeload of stereotypical passengers; and throw in some cheesy special effects. this is air panic, and i thoroughly enjoyed it for the above reasons. also add veteran actors ted shackelford and barbara carrera, and you know you're in for a good b-flight.in all honesty, this movie works because it attacks your visceral level of being terrified when the plane you are on goes a little wacky. not a cinematic classic, but i found it engrossing and entertaining."

The Island of Dr. Moreau

"If you saw the Kilmer/Brando version I urge you to see this version. Burt Lancaster is excelent as Dr. Moreau and York does fine work as Prendick. This movie is more faithful and easier to follow. If you liked the original book by H.G.Wells than skip Brando and see this one instead. Youll be glad you did."
