Georgy Girl

"This was a huge hit in 1966, when everything British was gobbled up in America, whether it be the Beatles, Michael Caine, Julie Christie or even Davy Jones. Unfortunately, 'Georgy Girl' is all but forgotten these days, except by people who have seen it and remember it for its charm and quirky screenplay.Plain Jane Georgy has a dilemma: does she choose the handsome and rich (but 'old') James Mason (brilliant, as ever) or gorgeous, sexy and poor Alan Bates?You'll have to watch the movie to see who she chooses and the ending will have you cheering. This is really a simply made movie with a great cast, excellent performances and a great title song, 'Georgy Girl,' by the Seekers. Anyone over 35 or so will remember this as a huge hit."

The Woods

"Like the previous reviewer, I was able to catch this at Fantastic Fest in Austin. It's a solid horror film, certainly one that rises above its direct-to-DVD status. There is an especially good performance by Patricia Clarkson, and the rest of the cast does fine. The only real caveat is that the movie isn't particularly 'scary' in the classic sense. It's more of a dark dramedy really, with a strong sense of dread throughout."

Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd

"I rented the movie. Watched the first thirty minutes of it. Pushed eject. Place the disc back into its case to be returned to the video store on Monday. Came to my desk and sat down. Signed on with the intention of writing a review about the movie. Got sidetracked and decided to read some of the reviews of Dumb and Dumberer first...and it wasn't until I started reading the 4 and 5 star reviews of this film that I got my first good laugh. Those who think this movie is funny must have been on something when they watched it. There is absolutely nothing funny about this film. Nothing."

Desert Saints

"I've watched this on HBO and it is a movie to make you think about each character. Definitely didn't expect what happened at the end which is good. The director did a good job as well as the actors/actresses."

The Woods

"Heather thinks her parents hate her when they put her in a strict private school in the middle of a big forest to 'straighten' her out. What she doesn't realize is her school and the students are controlled by witches. It may sound hokey, but it is really effective. These particular witches are interested in Heather and determined to stop anyone from getting her out of their clutches, including a couple of worried fellow classmates and her parents. Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead's Ash) is her Dad by the way and he is great! I can see why it got mixed reviews, you need quiet to watch it, and absorb whats going on. Not one of those movies where death after death more gruesome than before. I'm getting sick of those anyway."

Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd

"Kudos to the lanky Olsen for rising to the daunting task of mirroring Jim Carrey - he does it with such conviction that I almost overlooked the tragic lack of logic in the film's schemes or the frequent dry spells in humor. It's the best Jim Carrey impersonation I have ever seen! Buti** the script around him, the premise, and the film (in every way, down to the costuming) that makes a mess of his Jim Clone 101 act. While there may be a handful of minute comical moments that salvage D&D-er from the scrap heap, it is ultimately nothing more than a scorching bore. Perhaps folks between the ages of 10 to 15 may find this a tolerable rental."
