Pursuit of Happiness

"I like romantic comedies in general, even some that I recognize as being formulaic, but I didn't like this movie. The weaknesses were immediately apparent--awkward dialogue, lack of visual style--but I hoped the movie would overcome its faults. It didn't. Unlike, for example, Wedding for Bella, which had some similar shortcomings and obvious outcomes, this movie never made me care about the lead characters--they were two-dimensional sketches rather than fleshed-out characters. I liked Amy Jo Johnson, although being a 30-year-old playing 'the teenager' suggests a reason for her undistinguished career, and I liked Liz Vassey who was also relaxed in her character rather than awkwardly acting a part. Otherwise, nothing to see here. Move along."

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie

"As a single mother of a 7-year-old the viewability of programming aimed at children is a priority for me, and as a result, I spend most of her viewing time seated right beside her. I'd always been a fan of The Power Rangers series for their Crayola-colored costumes and the easy way their comradery translated to their viewing audience. Series casting changes notwithstanding, when this movie made its way to video I purchased a copy for our home viewing collection. This one gets a grade B+ for the delightful manner in which it uses grade school lessons to entertain young children. The soundtrack is pretty neat, too."

Perfect Body

"This movie is really good. I enjoyed it because I enjoy Amy Jo Johnson, she has wonderful acting skills as well as gymnast skills. Once you watch this movie you realize how hard it is to be in sports and deal with the pressures of being thin, or perfect, wether you are male or female. Eating disorders are a huge problem in todays society and should be shown and taught to young kids so that they understand what the damaging effects are and what should be done about them, or the steps to take to overcome the problem. This movie has a great story behind it and is a good movie in an all around different way."

"When I was younger, I saw this movie and it was actually quite a long time ago. It was on life time and I was excited since it was a gymnastics movie. I just bought the dvd and I recieved it today and just finished watching it. Now that I understand the issues better it made the movie easier to understand and I really enjoyed it. I am a huge gymnastics fan, and on again off again gymnast and I know how serious issues can be like this. Excellent movie very informative. Also does any one know where i can find the lyrics to the dvd? i really wanted the lyrics to the song that is played a few times a girl is singing it and its playing in the scene where she is in the caf debating on eating and on the uneven bars. Perfect Body

"this movie is really sad. I wouldn't want to be a celebrity or a professional athlete based on what I saw on this movie. It just shows how un sympathetic coaches and the higher above can be. The girl becomes bulemic/anerexic and this happens all the time. The body can't starve. Young girls don't understand this. I felt it was a good movie to watch."

"Excellent acting and good story. I had never heard of this movie until I picked up a discounted copy. But this movie is a blessing, telling the tale of man muddling through life and finally realizing that his true love is by his side all along. Classy romance of the highest caliber, and a story that makes you think and reflect. A definite two thumbs up. An undiscovered gem."
