The Rock

"Considering the amount of talent involved, 'The Rock' must rank among the worst films ever made by a major studio. It suffers from choppy editing, botched action sequences and a rather dispirited tone. Even more depressing is Sean Connery going through the motions for a big paycheck -- not unlike 'The Avengers.' Simply put, 'The Rock' is junk-food cinema without any redeeming sense of filmmaking skill. Did Joel Schumacher direct this?"

Meet Joe Black

"This film has something that most flicks today can only dream of: class. It doesn't spoon-feed the plot to you, and it doesn't have useless dialogue crammed into every nook and cranny. Those who say this film drags should stick to children's cartoons. There is so much happening beneath the surface. Some just tune out the gaps in dialogue, and that's a real tragedy, because that's when the most happens, and the film really shines. Pitt, Hopkins, and Forlani are tremendous. Pitt's combination of power and innocence is flawless. This film is the most sophisticated to come out in a while, and the fact that the critics don't like it doesn't phase me one bit, nor does it surprise me. Meet Joe Black is a breath of fresh air: a truly elegant film."

"***** This movie was exemplary from the get-go---the acting, the story, the golf scenes---beatiful! It is the story of Bobby Jones' personal journey to greatness. It is not just for golfers, but for anyone interested in being entertained, inspired, and uplifted, all at the same time. Of course, Bobby Jones' story is true as well. The movie illustrates his struggles balancing family concerns with golf, struggling with physical pain and chronic illness, and the pressures faced by a great athlete. Bobby Jones was an individual with courage and integrity. Special features include an actual clip of a speech made by Bobby Jones. Movies this good are not made often enough! *****"

"Another movie I hoped would be funny, but really wasn't. When I saw the trailer, I said to myself 'that's a movie I'd like!' It was not to be.Ben Stiller is miserable, William H. Macy made a bad career decision, and the rest of the cast seemed like they really wanted to be elsewhere!"
