"I happened to catch the TV promotion for this before it aired and decided to watch partly because it had Billie Piper in it. I like British period detective dramas anyway and I wanted to see if she was good at something other than 'Rose Tyler' from Dr. Who. I thought the story was pretty good, and the look of just about everything was wonderful- almost like being there.
Unlike the first review and at least the first comment I believe Ms. Piper did a good job. I found very little to complain about in this movie, it was a bit rushed towards the finish- 96 minutes would've been better than 86- and I think Sally's photographer friend's work tent was much too light (not dark enough inside it), that's about it.
If more are made in the series I'll watch and buy them."
"Compared to a lot of horror movies being made today, spirit trap is an okay if average spook tale.
a group of college students find themselves sharing quarters in a huge, but spooky house. we have the girl with the mysterious past; the nice guy next door type; the brash and arrogant drug dealer and his nymphomaniacal girlfriend, plus the mysterious recluse. soon they encounter the spirit of a slave who was murdered in the house and wants to come back to life. it's all pretty predictable and a little slow at times, but it creates an eerie mood and the actors are decent, especially luke mably (prince and me) as the hedonistic jerk."
"There is nothing particulary original about Spirit Trap. You've got the old house; the multitude of spooky occurances that people see out of the corner of their eye, but are gone when they look directly; the dream sequences with lots of running water, and people waking up screaming after a hand reaches out for them...I think you know what I mean. Nevertheless, I found the movie fun. I didn't get bored, despite the horror cliches. The acting is good. It had a horror-twist ending that I sincerely didn't guess before the end of the movie, which is always a positive sign. So, I feel it may be worth your time. "
"While there are some differents between the ORIGANEL and the NEW series they are small and can be overlooked. The new series is more special effects intensve and slighty less story driven but is still a good attempt to bring to TV a good SCI-FI night of entertainement."
"This show, based on the first in a series of books, seems a little like the start to a series itself. It's rushed, awkward, with little character development and less real emotion. The evil old woman is the best of a bad lot, as far as characters go; at least she gets to play with her false teeth. Billie Piper is a terrific actress but she's all wrong for this part. I really wasn't thrilled. I'll stick with Dr. Who and Jayne Eyre, thanks... "
