"The 4 stars are for the movie. While this DVD is terrible in terms of extras I must confess I did buy it because it was cheap, has a great glittery cover, is anamorphic (the last one wasn't) and has a Dolby/DTS 5.1 soundtrack instead of the cruddy 2.0 sound on the last one.
The movie is great but the DVD ain't up to scratch. Linklater has said he is working on HIS OWN special edition with Criterion, which will include loads of cool stuff (much like Criterion have recently done with Linklater's Slacker). Universal denied Linklater this right with their 'Flashback' release so sit tight and wait for the definitive version.
If available cheap I am allowing you to buy to tide you over. Any REAL fan of the film wouldn't buy this version for an everlasting keep."
"I saw Tom Hanks's, 'Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D' at the IMAX theater at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia twice. It was stunning from beginning to end. Outer Space has always been my first love and when the film showed 3D shots of the lunar surface and what a future lunar base would look like, I got emotional to the point that tears were in my eyes. It is a must have for everyone's home movie collection and especially if you are a space buff like me. It will be in my collection, count on it!!!!"
"Marshall football made the biggest comeback in sports history...from ashes to glory. The storyline is predictable because its a true story...and its respectful to share both the hardship and the tremendous heart of those who were able to carry on and take the field the next season. Players, coaches & a whole town had to come together to save this program and honor those who perished. It was a quest that proved successful in the long run, as Marshall football went on to be the most winning NCAA Division I football program of the 1990's. Imagine a story about a athlete program, a town, a university...that had to rebound from the nation's worst sports tragedy. It's a great story and a powerful movie. It's one of the most inspiring movies you will ever see. Enjoy! We are...

"This movie is really great. The dragons are the best since vermithrax in Dragonslyer. Dragons are meant to be mean not friendly and these sure portrayed mean!! I was dissapointed in the way this film was recieved and it's box office take. I think Bowman did a great job."
"This is the movie where I began to love Matthew McConaughey, and where I began to see that Jennifer Lopez is not a bad actress (in this type of role).
Basically she meets him and they have a connection, and little does she know that she already knows his fiancee because she is planning their wedding.
It's a cute light-hearted romantic comedy and if you like that genre, you will love this. Yes there are corny lines and outrageous situations, but that is part of the fun. It's a great movie that all romantics will love."
"It seems that the best science fiction is written by real scientists: Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, and Carl Sagan. Even though 'Contact' is Sagan's only novel, it's a very good one, with a firm basis in real-world science. Adapted to the screen, it loses a lot, but the story is compelling, and the cast does a very good job of making it work. The special effects are impressive, too. One day, we may actually receive an interstellar welcome. The scenario presented in 'Contact' may not be all that far off the mark as to how and what that message may be and how we'll work on reading it. "
