Celine Dion - The Concert for World Children's Day
"This is a wonderful video to have on hand as it has quite a collection of loved artists!! It is also as far as I know the only purchaseable recorded music video with Josh Groban and Celine Dion singing a BEAUTIFUL duet together, a must have of any fan of either those two artists!! Not to mention one will be woooed by the love song from Enrique Iglesias!!"
"This show was amazing for a number of reasons, particularly due to its ability to get NYC back on its feet after 9/11. As far as the music goes, Pete Townshend and The Who absolutely stole the show. Those guys were incredible. My six year-old son has sworn off the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync for good after seeing The Who do their thing. Nice performances by Clapton, Mick and Keith as well as James Taylor. Paul McCartney was a little hoarse but it was great to see him nevertheless. Adam Sandler was hysterical, while Hillary Clinton got booed off the stage (what were they thinking when they put her in front of that crowd!). A must have DVD."
"American Splendor may be one of the best movie adaptations of a comic book that I have ever seen. You see, there's really a guy named Harvey Pekar who writes a comic book entitled American Splendor which is based on his life. This movie is based on that comic book AND the guy's real life. The film is half documentary and half docudrama. Pekar narrates the film himself. 'That's me,' he says, 'Really it's the actor they have playing me. He really doesn't look anything like me.' All of the actor's real-life counterparts appear. Paul Giamatti gives a great performance as Pekar. The movie is very funny and very innovative in the way it merges live-action with animation."
"This movie could have been better but I have watched it a number of times and will watch it again! The young actors need more experience but all have potental. The seasoned actors needed more screen time. All in all it was good. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 7.5"
"One of the most highly anticipated films at this year's film festivals, American Splendor sure didn't disappoint. I really liked its part-biopic, part-documentary approach, and it reminded me a lot of Crumb and Ghost World with its wacky characters and funny dialogues. I've never been a big fan of Paul Giamatti and his tendency to overact, but he hits all the right notes in this film, and while combining live-action with cartoon/animation is hardly a groundbreaking technique in today's cinema, it works extremely well here. I felt the 2nd half was a little scattered though."
