Scent of a Woman
"Pacino plays a blind, ailing, cantankerous old crotchet, retired military Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade with simmering thoughts of ending it all. Wow, talk about a fantastic performance. Will you ever forget the dance floor scene where he asks the kid for some parameters, size of the dance floor, and then dips into a spectacular tango? Or the sports car scene and the cop who stops him? Or the whole movie, for that matter. But especially, especially, especially for the final speech in front of the prep school that was trying to expel his assistant, one of the school's students at a trumped up disciplinary hearing."

Fried Green Tomatoes
"I love this movie. I watched it and fell in love with Idgie and Ruth, both wonderfully quirky and southern. I'd marry either in a heartbeat and count my blessings. The rendering is faithful in many ways to Flagg's book: Whistle Stop teems with life in all its contradictions, the actors portrayals are flawless (especially Masterson's of Idgie), the screenplay is spot-on (probably because Flagg assisted), and the artistry is close to that of the book's (anecdotal flashbacks). That the directors found a town in Georgia and not Alabama doesn't matter. We are transported to a special and endearing place in time, and we want to stay. Everything about this movie works. Watch it and enjoy."

Tarzan
"Technically, this movie is perfect. Great songs, beautifully designed scenarios, endearable funny characters and a strong feeling of nostalgia for movies that aim to a higher message. Regretfully, whoever is a parent these days is having a lot of trouble to explain the violence shown in cartoons to their sons. Moreover, it's hard to endorse any t.v. cartoons other than Pinky and the Brain or history related ones. Tarzan demonstrates that there is such thing such as a Family Film and that you can create visually stunning gems as this movie and, still, send a message other than gross scenes or blood and guts spilled all over. Thank you, Disney."

Show Business - The Road to Broadway
"As this film's ending makes perfectly clear, Broadway is brutal: far more shows fail than succeed. Show Business followed four musicals (Wicked, Taboo, Avenue Q, and Caroline, Or Change) through pre-production to (some would say premature) closing, unveiling the huge amount of work expended to put these productions on the stage. Not only is it a valentine to the musical, but to the art form's fans. A must-see for anyone who loves Broadway."

Tarzan
"Regardless of what you may think of the movie (I enjoyed it), this DVD does not belong in anyone's collection. Disney has greatly abused the ability to lock-out control of the DVD player during the beginning of the disk, *forcing* you to sit through several previews and an ad. Shame! Ordinarily I'm a big fan of previews, and I don't even mind ads, but keep them in the bonus section where they belong! I won't buy another Disney movie on DVD while this disrespectful practice continues. I'm surprised more people didn't mention it here - I can only assume you've been watching the tape."

Prime Suspect 4
"Unusually this Prime Suspect series was three separate stories - unlike all the other series. however it did not detract from the very professional and lifelike acting. The last story was the weakest (although still good) as it referred back to the original Prime Suspect - the reason the story was weak was that George Marlow was played by a different actor. Obviously it took a long time to recreate the animosity between Jane Tennison and George. The first two stories were great, well written and very well acted. The subject matter was very direct and there were no holds bar filming in what people would feel in the real circumstance.I would recommend this set of videos to anyone who likes police dramas that are realistic."
