The Flying Scotsman
"I just got back from a trip to Scotland--my first visit--and saw this film on the plane (Virgin Atlantic). Fabulous movie! I'm not Scots or a bicycler, but just loved it--beautifully filmed, wonderful acting, a great movie experience. I can't wait to get the DVD and watch it again with my family. Unfortunately I saw it on a small screen on the plane, but it was still terrific. The original soundtrack was also excellent. It was especially nice watching this on a trip to Glasgow, where it was filmed. Highly recommended for the cinematography, great acting, sensitive portrayal of Obree's depression, and the personal relationships that help him to succeed. Suitable for kids over about 8 or 10 in my opinion, one little bit with bad language (the f* word, said once). Very original film."

Sally Lockhart Mysteries - Ruby In the Smoke
"This show, based on the first in a series of books, seems a little like the start to a series itself. It's rushed, awkward, with little character development and less real emotion. The evil old woman is the best of a bad lot, as far as characters go; at least she gets to play with her false teeth. Billie Piper is a terrific actress but she's all wrong for this part. I really wasn't thrilled. I'll stick with Dr. Who and Jayne Eyre, thanks... "

The Flying Scotsman
"I bought the movie after reading the book and still enjoyed the movie. Greame Obree owned Irvine Cycles ( you will read about it in the book) and I met him a few times in the shop that I worked in just a short distance away from the cycle shop and I can tell you that Jonny Lee Miller was spot on with his performance of Greame. Coming from Ayrshire and growing up in that time it was like watching a home movie with the bullying, depression and struggles. He is an amazing man and one day he will get the privelledge of knowing this. All fans must read the book to get the full stories of the heartbrake and the full story of loss he endured."

Count Yorga, Vampire/The Return of Count Yorga
"I remember back in the seventies how controversial this film was. It was what everyone talked about. I remember people saying 'Have u seen Count Yorga yet?' So I thought I would go see it. At the time I was very into vampire movies with all the Hammer films around at the time. I remember seeing this movie at Sydneys famous State Theatre which is very gothic from its rambling marble staircases to its red velvet drapery...a perfect venue for a film about vampires. I also remember the talked about scene in the campervan and the controversial scene with the cat. This movie double is on its way to me and I cannot wait to see it as a double feature... Enjoy!!"

House on Haunted Hill
"House on haunted hill is one of my favorite movies. It has everything. A haunted house, a dark and stormy night, ghosts, a bloodstain that won't wash out, severed heads, an acid vat, organ music...it's just so atmospheric. The plot: millionaire vincent price and his scheming wife invite five strangers to the house on haunted hill. He'll pay them 10,000 dollars each if they spend the night there. One of them dies, and a murder mystery also evolves. This movie from william castle and robb white is so much fun, and the set and acting is fantastic. If you love this, check out 13 ghosts, which i have also reviewed.e-mail me: jackmonsoon@hotmail.com"
