Barbara Stanwyck - The Signature Collection

"This looks to be a great collection for stanwyck fans. a couple of these films i've never seen before, and i've been waiting a long time to replace my old vhs copy of east side, west side. praise to warner for continuing their sterling series of signature collection dvd sets. looking to the future, how about sets featuring lana turner (green dolphin street, a life of her own, diane, homecoming, by love possessed) or jane powell (two weeks with love, nancy goes to rio, a date with judy, holiday in mexico, three daring daughters) or spencer tracy (northwest passage, plymouth adventure, the seventh cross, cass timberlane, edison the man), just to name a few? these are indeed golden times for classic film fans."

The Night of the Iguana

"Tennesse Williams has rarely fared well in the transfer from stage to screen, but Night of Iguana is evidence that his work makes for powerful viewing. Stark visuals play against the subtle script and performances, with Ava Gardner giving perhaps her finest performance as the over-sexed, hard-bitten hotel owner who conceals a loving heart and honest nature behind an 'I don't give a damn' mask. Burton has rarely been seen to such effect, and Deborah Kerr is quite fine. The supporting cast, featuring Grayson Hall and Sue Lyons, is remarkably strong as well. A powerful and unstinting screen adaptation of one of Williams' most powerful and unstinting plays."

"This is a great movie. As it was originally shown in Widescreen, why is the DVD not available in Widescreen? After we've waited this long to get it, don't disappoint us!"

The Bible ... In the Beginning

"I watched this movie on TV and I thought it was good. All of the actors were very good but I especially liked John Huston as Noah, George C. Scott as Abraham, Ava Gardner as Sarah and Richard Harris as Cain. I think John Huston did a great job directing the movie but he also acted in this movie and I think he was a very Noah. For a Biblical movie I think John Huston's The Bible is pretty low-key and simple rather than a super glossy Hollywood movie and I think some people were maybe expecting that kind of Biblical epic and though those big budget glossy Hollywood Biblical movies are good I enjoyed this more subdued movie and I recommend this movie, especially on DVD!"
