"And the perfect film to follow Red Dust, Too Hot to Handle, or maybe China Seas? An excellent soaper in which Loy and Harlow vie for businessman Gable's affections. Not as much fun as the above, but still a fine example of the caliber of movie MGM just cranked out during the thirties. Bonus: check out the quite young James Stewart as Harlow's would-be hubby. "
"Any B&W fan will appreciate this film. I LOVED Robert Williams--I thought he was refreshingly original and had great chemistry with both of his female co-stars, two stunningly beautiful and very different women. The scene with the the song about the garters is priceless, and one of the sexiest scenes ever filmed(and there are many other breathtakingly sexy scenes as well). Although it should have been called 'Cinderella Man', in captures it's time period in every way. I would have loved to see Robert Williams in other roles after this one, but he died very shortly after filming. You'll also love the scene where Stew follows Ann into the library! Don't miss this cool and sexy film. "
"Spoilers here a little -- This film is fun to watch. I love the rapport between characters. Clarke Gable is wonderful as the faithful (but almost not) husband of Myrna Loy. I was quite surprised at the nice acting performance turned out by Jean Harlow. Too bad she did not live to make more films. James Stewart is sparkling, as usual, in his small part in this film. Though labeled a comedy--there are some serious lessons here relating to ill-timed words of suspicion on the part of the mother of the Clarke Gable character. This creates havoc which is not always funny, but definately interesting. The quality of this DVD is excellent. The sound is good and the picture nice and clear. All in all, if you are a fan of older movies--you will enjoy this one. "
"This is one of the best films from Hollywood's heyday! Comedy and Drama perfectly blended together by a great director and a stellar cast. Knockout performances by Marie Dressler, Lee Tracy and Glinda herself, Billie Burke buti** Jean Harlow who knocked me for a loop! As Kitty Packard, the wife of a tycoon she is sensational! She is all silver, platinum, satin, diamonds and deco with one hitch! When she opens her mouth no pearls roll out just razor blades! She steals the show. Which is no small feat considering she is up against some of Hollywood's all time greats!"
"MY RATING- 7.1A fairly entertaining romantic adventure with Gable having to deal with the dumb blonde Jean Harlow. She's very sexy here, and this mov helped to create the myth. Also starring Wallace Beery as the bad guy, Rosalind Russel as the old Gable's sweetheart, and a nice little performance by Lewis Stone. The mov contains some crude and unecessary violence like in the scene some colossal machines crush poor chinese fellows."
