"This is the same BR dvd that has been out since the inception of dvd, but with a cleaned up anamorphic transfer. It has no extras, and only 2.0 sound. Later in 2007, they are releasing a multi-disc set of BR with different cuts of the film and lots of extras, not unlike most of Ridley Scott's dvds. This is just a place holder. You've waited this long, you can wait a few more months for the ULTIMATE Blade Runner set."
"I could tell immediately on viewing the first few minutes of this release that it would be the best I have seen of the movie, by far. A decade ago I watched the laserdisc version on a Pioneer 50' set, and now this DVD on a Samsung HD LCD. The increase in detail and beauty of the color is fantastic. The incredible sets are all the more impressive. I hadn't seen the director's version before... the lack of narration is a plus. The movie has finally been done justice for home viewing."
"This movie is a MUST see for people that have low self esteem for one reason or another. The location it is filmed is just perfect and the way Steve Martin acts is as if he was born with such a nose. If you can buy this movie go ahead you will not regret it."
"Possibly one of Steve Martin's finest films, I have always enjoyed this wonderful modern version of Cyrano de Bergerac. A fine cast turn in some wonderful performances. There are so many sequences in the film which I could talk about such as the opening 'swordfight', the balcony scene and the most famous - the 20 things about CDB'S nose (actually 25 but who cares?). At the end of it all its a wonderful film that you can sit back and enjoy. If you need something to lighten the mood then this is one of those constantly funny films. The picture quality of this DVD is excellent. The sound is good. The only downside would be the lack of features. My advice would be to buy it anyway."
"The DVD extras really make this 20th anniversary re-release worth owning. This movie has been run repeatedly (in edited form) on television, so there probably aren't that many people who haven't had a chance to see this delightful fantasy. The 'making-of' video and the commentary track give a fascinating glimpse into the way that Hollywood works. Why did Disney wind up making this film? How did Tom Hanks get the lead? How did they choose Darryl Hannah? Who was the film's 'real' star? How did they pull off the underwater shots? What was the lobster that Madison ate in the restaurant? If you have a soft spot for this film, it's a joy to watch and a real treat to get to know better."
