"...Anyone who has done the least bit of research will know that David Lynch has final cut of everything he does. He chose to cut the movie down from its original inception. Please know that this is a fantastic movie, and the DVD IS Lynch-approved. As for the commentary and deleted scenes, Lynch has stated many times that he will NEVER do commentary, and does not agree whole-heartedly with including deleted scenes. He also refuses to use chapter stops (this is good). If you need someone to hold your hand while you watch this movie, and explain how to think for yourself, then I propose you find a different film to watch."
"Not since 'There's something about Mary' have I laughed so hard in a movie theater! I got into one of the preview screenings of this last week in LA and I have to say 90% of the audience was laughing just as loud as me. Let the prudes stay home - this is a film for anyone who wants to laugh till it hurts!"
"By now you know this is a remake of 'The Philadelphia Story' and may have a tendency to compare them. I did this my self at first; then I realized they each have their strong points. I even get them mixed up now and them. All you have to do is remember this is the musical. My favorite song in the list is 'True Love'. Of course as with everything different people are bound to have different favorites and there are plenty to chose from.
In case you are new to the story, basically C.K. Dexter-Haven (Bing Crosby) and Tracy Samantha Lord (Grace Kelly) are divorced. Tracy is getting married again. The clan is gathering. We watch as they go through the motions and emotions of courting and reevaluating their lives.

"What a marvelous movie this is and Gary Cooper's defining role in a 40 year stellar career. He is perfectly cast in the role John Wayne turned down because he thought it was 'anti-American.' But Duke's loss is our gain, because it's hard to imagine anyone played Sheriff Will Kane like Cooper. The cinematography and direction are sublime, the tension as good as anything Hitchco** came up with. Grace Kelly has a small part but is effective, as is the always brilliant Thomas Mitchell. The soundtrack by Dimitri Tiomkin is memorable, with the haunting opening song, 'Do Not Forget me, oh my Darling.'This is one of the greatest westerns ever made, alongside 'Shane' and 'The Searchers.' Simply superb!"
"Is there a difference in this latest version of this DVD release? Or is it simply a marketing 'repackage'? There is a difference!
In my opinion, the DVD transfer of this 'Special Collector's Edition' is far superior to the original DVD release. In a side-by-side comparison, I was amazed to see the job that was performed on this restoration. While, the original DVD contains plenty of dirt, scratches, conversion-related distortion/noise, etc., the Special Collector's Edition looks nearly pristine.
There are plenty of scenes in the movie where I experienced, how can I describe it, the illusion of depth and/or three-dimensional effect.
This version will certainly replace my original copy."
