Unfaithfully Yours
"I got ahold of this movie when I was 9 or 10...and my sister and I watched it over and over. The movie is a riot, quite frankly. Beautiful cinematography and a great cast of characters. Armand Assante is wonderful with his arrogant sophisticated air...esp. the competitions with the Dudley Moore character. This movie is incredibly inspired. Wonderful to catch if you can!"

Tess
"I agree with a previous reviewer that the DVD transfer is not as stunning as it could have been. 'Tess' features gorgeous cinematography, but the DVD looks like nobody cleaned up the dirt from the film's negatives. The film looks good in daylight scenes but any scenes set at night or with grey skies looks grainy and specs of dirt are evident throughout. It's great to have 'Tess' on DVD, and the featurettes are a nice bonus since there is not a lot of information about the making of 'Tess', but if this is supposed to be a 'Special Edition' a two-disc set would have been more appopriate. Even the cover of the DVD makes Nastassja Kinski look anorexic. Talk about a DVD sacrificing quality for $$$$. "

"Sort of the antithesis of the type of movie ERASERHEAD is, this human drama near-epic is peaceful and down-to-earth, not to mention the only good movie Wenders has ever made. Harry Dean Stanton delivers one of the greatest performances ever captured on screen as a man desperately trying to run from and forget the past. After disappearing for years, he is found near-dead in a desert bar. A phone number in his pocket leads doctors to his brother, played by Dean Stockwell, who flies out to Texas from Los Angeles to pick him up. We spend the next two hours gradually finding out exactly what has happened. Stanton's confrontation with Natassja Kinksi is amazingly heart-wrenching. Quite possibly the most beautiful film in motion picture history."

"This was arguably the longest 2 hours I have spent in my entire life ... it felt like much more ... I found myself more than a little angry with the overkill leadup to what could have been a compelling story. The punch line took way too long to get to ... and when it came, it just wasn't enough to convince me it was worth the wait. With each pregnant pause between dialogue (and guitar strings), I was sure I'd be getting up to leave ... I suspect the invested time (hours and hours it seemed) precluded me from doing so. I wanted that punch line ... then, finally, it came ... and it went. This one had a ton of potential but it just didn't work for me."

Cat People
"Classic early 80's feel throughout this update to the Val Guest classic. Nastashia Kinski was incredibly hot here; she was at her most attractive in this movie. (The famous anaconda ads were shortly before Cat People.) She also had jet black hair in this film, and luscious full, red lips. The famous violin scene where ol' Droog Meister, Malcolm McDowel strums her with the violin bow was talked about a lot when the movie came out. There is an uncredited musical number sung by David Bowie-- towards the end, as I recall, probably over the end credits. It had the line 'putting out the fire with gasoline.' That was an interesting song. In the begining there are some flashback scenes to the 'origin of the cat people' that are shot with an Franzetta look. "

Little Boy Blue
"This film is very disturbing about a teenage boy forced to have intercourse with his mother. Ryan Phillipe gives a wonderful and frightening performance as Jimmy West. His pain and anguish are perfectly shown from Ryan. You feel sorry for him and can't believe what his father has forced him to do. The film however is very slow paced and half way through the film Jimmy West leaves and the rest of the film focuses on his father and mother played by John Savage and Natassia Kinski. Nothing really gets resolved in the end and has an unsatisfying ending. However I do recommend this film for the wonderful performance from Ryan Phillippe."
