"I can understand many of the bad reviews that I have read surrounding this film. Many have refered to this movie as a typical hood film and it is; but, at a level that captures the realm of economic prosperity (due to the crack-cocaine epidemic) that saturated ghettos everywhere. Unlike New Jack City, it was more realistic. It opened the project doors and windows for America to see. It was based upon a true story, and presented cameo of each of the 3 actual hustlers (drug-dealers)that conquered Harlem in the mid 80's. Excellent film. In order to really be able to appreicate the film at a height, I think that it is beneficial to have some knowledge of that time period ... and maybe even some knowledge of the hood."

"Intriguing and original. Makes you stop and think. Sometimes things really aren't what they appear to be. Greed will make people do some low down, deceitful things... The acting was excellent and the chemistry between Allen Payne and Elise Neal was beautiful. Hope to see these two together again in the near future. I highly recommend this film... "

"I would have given it five stars, but in some spots the movie went off base. It is generally an excellent film. The entire cast fit their roles perfectly. Elise Neal and Adrien Brody were the perfect couple. Malcolm Jamal Warner was pretty impressive himself. This film was humorous, charming and sensuous. The director did an excellent job. At times I felt like I was actually in the restaurant with the cast. Rarely do you see a film that incoporates real life situations with a flawless script. One of the most believable films I've ever seen. A great cast, excellent script, and pleasing acting. You can't get better than Restaurant these days."

Hustle & Flow

"Hustle & flow, which i saw last night, is a terrific movie, both gritty and a hell of a lot of fun. Terrence howard is terrific as djay, a memphis pimp with a dream of recording a rap demo. The supporting cast is really strong. The movie has one of the best screenplays i've seen in a while, too. Though there are stereotypical characters, nothing turns out the way you'd expect, and the dialogue and soundtrack are excellent. The good reviews this has received are deserved. Hustle & flow is a great movie. for me, the entire movie was worth seeing just for the lava lamp scene."
